FASTEC (Functional And Soft Tissue Evaluation Centres)
FASTEC is a comprehensive multi-disciplinary evaluation led by well known and regarded Physiatrist Dr. Gordon Ko. The focus of the FASTEC evaluation is on soft tissue and muscle injuries that occur as a result of a MVC or work-related accident. Dr. Ko is one of Canada’s leaders in the research and development of alternative therapeutic interventions for chronic pain. The FASTEC evaluation provides a detailed, defensible report containing findings, summaries of the client’s disabilities, prognosis, and recommendations for further diagnostic investigations as well as further treatment. Furthermore, the evaluation results in clear and defensible commentary on the impact of injuries on activities of daily living as well as work demands and the client’s ability to return to work.
CORE (Comprehensive Orthopaedic Researched Evaluations)
CORE evaluations are led by an established and well regarded orthopaedic surgeon who is extremely well qualified to evaluate and render opinions on injuries sustained by your client. The prepared report (as well as all other reports prepared using our services) contains detailed findings, an executive summary of findings, recommendations for further investigations and treatments, and prognosis as well as commentary on impact of the injuries on work activities and activities of daily living.
PECS (Psychiatric Evaluation Centres and Sleep-medicine)
With PECS, an assessment and report regarding psychiatric issues which are pertinent to the injury are provided. Sleep studies and evaluations are performed when required. The PECS evaluation can be performed independently but it is usually combined with an assessment of physical impairments (either Physiatry or Orthopaedic).
PROFES (Psychiatric, Rehabilitation, Orthopaedic and Functional Evaluation Services)
PROFES is a complete and extremely comprehensive evaluation consisting of physiatry, orthopaedic and psychiatric assessments and reports, as well as a Functional Abilities Evaluation (FAE). PROFES is designed to evaluate the condition of an individual in the most detailed manner. It provides the certified assessor sufficient information to meet what is required to determine Catastrophic Injury Threshold (as per AMA Guidelines 4th edition). All findings are detailed and presented in a consensus executive summary report. Other assessors can be added (e.g. Neurologist, Neuropsychiatrist, Dental Specialist, etc.) as required and requested.
Pre-Injection Screening for Prolotherapy, PRP and Botox Injections
A comprehensive consultation including a detailed Biomechanical Assessment is performed by Dr. Lawson to determine the appropriateness of injection therapy. Dr. Lawson, M.Sc., D.C., D.H.N., F.C.C.S.(C), D.A.C.B.N., F.C.C.O. is a Chiropractic Specialist with advanced training in Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine and Nutrition. He has worked with Dr. Ko for almost twenty years and has over thirty years of experience both academically and clinically. A detailed report is generated and the information is provided to Dr. Ko for consultation and discussion. The injections are usually performed with Dr. Lawson and Dr. Ko present. The injections have the best results when coupled with appropriate therapy and lifestyle support. Components of Functional Medicine will be addressed as well as structural/muscular dysfunction.
Injections are performed at the Canadian Centre for Integrative Medicine (12 Main St. North, Markham,ON) under the supervision of Dr. Ko.
